We wouldn't deploy you to the epicenter of an alien infested city without a massive arsenal from which to choose. Multi-phased pulse rifles, devastating shock weapons, magnetic bolt accelerators and many more. Each weapon is designed for maximum destruction!
If you think you're ready, play in the 2 player cooperative mode. You'll encounter extra mutants, alternative routes and increasingly challenging obstacles around every corner. Whether you choose a solo mission, or decide to work with an ally, be prepared for some fast-paced, non-stop, heart pounding action!
These creatures must be wiped out by YOU before they reach any other cities. No alien life forms are to be left alive. With the support of the Dual Shock Analog Controller, you can feel the firepower as you exterminate the alien invaders!
Remember, mercy is NOT an option.
Description 2
The year is 2198. An object of unknown origin has crashed into the peaceful city of Arcadia destroying most of its population. Mutant creatures emerging from the object have begun terrorizing the countryside. You are part of a special force trained to deal with hostile aliens. Your job is to reach the object and destroy it as well as any mutants you encounter with all dispatch.

GamePlay:
In the ONE PLAYER MODE, a status display appears on the top left corner of the screen which shows a picture of your character, the number of LIVES you have remaining and your HEALTH METER (100).
A POWER UP ITEM DISPLAY (light blue rectangle) and the ENERGY CELL METER for the currently activated weapon appear on the bottom left corner of the screen (in the TWO PLAYER MODE, displays for player 2 appear on the right side of the screen). When you use certain weapons, the ENERGY CELL METER will diminish. If the ENERGY CELL METER becomes depleted you will be unable to use certain weapons until it has recharged (does not apply to your PULSE OR BOLT WEAPONS).
There are eight missions in the game (ARCADIA CITY, ALIEN CORRIDOR, JUNGLE OF ZEEVA, etc.). During each mission you will encounter scores of hideous mutants who will subject you to unrelenting attack. Your objective in the game is simply to do whatever it takes to destroy the mutant infestation. At the beginning of the game you are armed with either the PULSE RIFLE (RENO WASHINGTON) or BOLT (KELLY DOYLE).
Weapons RENO WASHINGTON will acquire through out the game are PULSE RIFLE,
1.) SHOCK (electrical beam that can be augmented with up to three additional beams by collecting power up icons)
2.) S-TYPE (hold down button to charge weapon then release button to fire)
3.) CUTTER (chases targets cutting through several enemies before running out of energy)
Weapons KELLY DOYLE will acquire are BOLT,
1.) BEAM LASER (bolts of energy which create a death-causing web in any confined space),
2.) HOMING MISSILES (targets and locks onto nearest enemy)
3.) STARFIRE (hold down button to charge then release button to fire energy projectiles which target nearest enemy).
You can find power up items by blasting open pods, hovercraft, ships, etc. (shoot everywhere to uncover hidden power up items). Power up items you may collect through out the game are..
1.) HEALTH ICON (+ replenishes HEALTH METER)
2.) WEAPON (if WEAPON AUTO SWITCH is activated from the OPTIONS MENU you will automatically switch to any new weapon you collect)
3.) WEAPON UPGRADE (yellow tokens which upgrade current weapon or next available weapon)
4.) AMMO RECHARGE (lightning icon),
5.) SMART BOMB (yellow cog-shaped icon which destroys or damages all enemies within range)
6.) EXTRA LIFE (1UP ICON)
7.) SHIELD (purple icon which protects you from harm for a brief period of time)
8.) ! (raises all weapons to maximum power up level and give you an AMMO RECHARGE ICON)
NOTE: You may only carry one power up item at a time. At various junctures in the game you will come to SAVE POINTS where you may save your game data (NOTE: You must first create a block for the game on your Memory Card in order to save your game). If you are come into contact with any harmful object you will be injured and your HEALTH METER will diminish. When the HEALTH METER is completely depleted, or if you fall into the abyss you will lose a life. When all of your lives are gone, you may CONTINUE from the last milestone achieved in the game.
